Welcome back to the what sells on eBay series! It’s the holiday season which means it’s the best time of year to sell on eBay. I sold the same amount of items in November as I did in October, but I made a good bit more. Since we were in Costa Rica for a week, I wasn’t able to list as much. I did sell 7 items while we were on vacation so that was cool. I just changed the handling time to 10 days and let the buyers know that I was out of town and would ship the items as soon as I got back. All of the buyers were fine with waiting so it worked out nicely.

I had some issues with eBay this past month. One of the items I shipped got lost in the mail and that’s the first time that’s happened to me. I did get a full refund from USPS which included the price of shipping the buyer paid, so I actually made more money from them losing it. I also had a customer that wanted to return an item and it ended up getting pretty nasty. The item was 4 old keyboards that were 4 different brands. Apparently, the buyer didn’t know that they were different brands even though I clearly stated that in the listing. She wanted to return them and said I would need to schedule a pickup of the item and that she didn’t have a printer to print the shipping label… Umm, ma’am, this is eBay. I am not your personal assistant and cannot help you with that.

Anyways, she still hasn’t shipped the item back. Somehow, she found a phone number on my account which happened to be my parent’s home phone number (sorry mom). She’s called my mom twice and has gone off on her. It’s funny that she’s going through all this trouble and all she has to do is find a place to print the label and schedule a pickup herself. She lives in New York City so I’m sure she could get to a printer. In this situation, I just have to wait I think two weeks and then if she hasn’t shipped the item back, eBay will close the case. I’d be fine with her returning the items, but I don’t know how to help her get a label printed and the package picked up.

  • Average profit per item: $22.83

I became a top rated seller in November so that’s pretty awesome! I was below standard just a couple of months ago, so I had a great turnaround. When you’re a top rated seller, you get a discount on eBay fees and you get a top rated seller badge on certain listings in your inventory.

November was a good month! I have a ton of things to list so I need to get back at it. I’m curious to see how long the holiday craze will last and when the sales are going to drop. This is my first winter as a serious eBay seller so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I’ve also got an antique booth that I’m sharing with my dad. I haven’t gotten my numbers for November yet, but I expect I profited a couple hundred dollars. It’s nice to have the antique booth for larger or fragile things that I don’t feel like shipping. I hope I start making at least a few hundred a month doing it eventually.
